We named the company Zoey because we always pictured an assistant: someone on your team who knows every account, every order and every price, and gets the work done when you ask. Starting today, that’s what Zoey is. With the new Zoey MCP Server, you can connect Claude to your store and talk to it in plain language, and Zoey looks things up, builds quotes, ships orders and updates inventory for you.
Your assistant, built on your business
An AI assistant is only as good as what’s underneath it. Zoey’s platform has always been the system of record for B2B commerce: your company accounts, customer-specific pricing, quotes, net terms, approvals, invoices and inventory. That foundation is what lets the assistant act on your real business, with your rules applied, instead of guessing.
- The platform holds your order data and enforces how your business runs.
- The assistant puts all of it a sentence away.
Just ask
- “Which orders from Acme this month haven’t shipped yet?”
- “Create a quote for Northwind with 50 units of SKU ABC-1 and submit it.”
- “Ship order 100000346 with UPS tracking 1Z999AA10123456784 and email the customer.”
- “Which new customer accounts are waiting for approval?”
- “Set stock to 0 for these 12 discontinued SKUs.”
- “What has Northwind ordered from us in the last 90 days?”
Zoey works across orders, quotes, invoices, shipments, credit memos, customers, company accounts, products, categories and inventory.
Connect Claude in about a minute
Every store has its own MCP Server built in, so there’s nothing to install and no API keys to manage. You need a Zoey admin login and a Claude account that can add custom connectors. Other AI assistants that support the Model Context Protocol (MCP) can connect the same way.
- In your Zoey admin, go to Settings > MCP Server and click Copy next to the Connector URL. It looks like
https://yourstore.com/mcp. - In Claude, add a custom connector and paste the Connector URL.
- Click Connect. Claude opens your Zoey admin login in a new window.
- Sign in. You’ll see “Claude (auto-registered) requests access to your account.”
- Review the request and click Authorize. You’re returned to Claude, and the connector shows as connected.
- Ask Claude something about your store, for example: “Show me the 5 most recent orders.”
The app now appears under Connected apps in Settings > MCP Server, with the date it connected and when it was last used. Only click Authorize if you started the connection yourself. The consent screen tells you which site you’ll be returned to.
What Claude can do
Claude works through the Zoey REST API, so it can do the same things as an API integration, within the permissions of the admin who connected it. It finds the right API call for your request on its own, and for a change, it shows you what it’s about to do before it does it.
| Area | What Claude can do | Example request |
|---|---|---|
| Orders | Find orders by number or customer email; view items, addresses and comments; add comments; set order attributes; change the order’s customer; cancel orders; manage custom order statuses | “Show the last 10 orders from jane@acme.com and which haven’t shipped.” |
| Invoices | Create invoices; look up and list invoices; add comments; email or print them | “Invoice everything on order 100000180 and email the customer.” |
| Shipments | Create shipments with tracking; add tracking to a shipment; list carriers; add comments; email or print | “Ship order 100000346 with UPS tracking 1Z999AA10123456784.” |
| Credit memos | Create credit memos (refunds); list them; add comments | “Refund 2 units of item 311 on order 100000180.” |
| Bills | Send, view, email or print bills | “Email the bill for order 1500000063 again.” |
| Quotes | List and open quotes; create a quote; set its customer, products, addresses, shipping and payment; check totals; add comments; submit it; convert it to an order | “Create a quote for Acme with 50 units of SKU ABC-1 and submit it.” |
| Placing orders | Build a cart for a customer, with custom prices if needed; set addresses, shipping and payment; check totals; place the order; create, email or remove draft orders | “Place an order for customer 42: 10 of SKU ABC-1, ship flat rate, pay by PO 8675.” |
| Customers | Find, create and update customers and their addresses; manage net terms and customer groups; send account invites; see a customer’s ordered items | “Which customers are pending approval?” |
| Company accounts | List, create and update accounts; view roles and location addresses; see an account’s ordered items | “What has Acme ordered in the last 3 months?” |
| Products and categories | Find products by ID or SKU; create, update, bulk-update or delete products; manage product categories, images and related products; view and edit the category tree | “Change the price of SKU ABC-1 to $24.99.” |
| Inventory | View and update stock, one product or in bulk; manage inventory locations | “Set stock to 0 for these 12 SKUs.” |
| Attributes and settings | View, create and update custom attributes; view payment method settings | “What custom attributes do we have on orders?” |
What Claude can’t do yet
The MCP Server covers what the Zoey REST API covers. These areas aren’t available through it yet:
- Promotions and catalog price rules
- CMS pages, blog, theme and design
- Store settings, other than viewing payment methods
- Email templates, team and admin users, integrations, data mappers and imports
- Uploading files, other than product images
Claude can summarize data it reads, but it reads in pages, so large analyses across thousands of records aren’t reliable. For totals and trends, use Reports in the Zoey admin.
Trusted with your business
Claude only gets access after an admin signs in and approves it, and it never sees your password.
- You approve every connection. Anyone can start a connection, but nothing is shared until a store admin signs in and clicks Authorize.
- Your permissions apply. Claude acts as the admin who approved it, limited by that admin’s REST API role. To give Claude less access, connect it with an admin whose role allows less.
- Changes are confirmed. Lookups are marked read-only. Creates and updates are marked as changes, and deletes and cancellations are marked destructive, so Claude asks before running them.
- You stay in control. See every connected app in Settings > MCP Server and click Disconnect to end its access immediately.
- Sessions. Claude’s access refreshes automatically while you use it. If a connection goes unused for 2 weeks, reconnect it from Claude.
Behind the scenes, we’ve also upgraded Zoey’s API security to OAuth 2.1, the latest standard for connected apps.
Settings
Find these in Settings > MCP Server. Click Save Settings after changing them.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Allow AI apps to connect | Yes | Lets apps such as Claude register themselves with your store. Each one still needs admin approval. Turning it off stops new connections but does not disconnect existing apps. |
| Allow desktop and command-line apps | Yes | Allows apps that run on your own computer, such as Claude Code, to finish signing in on your computer (localhost). |
| Allowed redirect URLs | Claude’s sign-in URLs | Advanced. The exact https URLs a self-registered app may return you to after you approve it, one per line. Only add URLs for AI apps you trust. |
Troubleshooting
Claude can’t connect, or the connection fails right away. Check that “Allow AI apps to connect” is set to Yes in Settings > MCP Server, and that you copied the Connector URL exactly, including /mcp.
A request fails with “Access denied” (403). The admin who approved the connection doesn’t have API permission for that area. Update that admin’s REST role, or disconnect and reconnect with an admin who has the access.
Claude asks me to reconnect. The connection went unused for 2 weeks, or it was disconnected in Settings > MCP Server. Click Connect in Claude and approve it again.
I see a connected app I don’t recognize. Click Disconnect. An app can’t access anything until an admin approves it, but if you didn’t start the connection, remove it.
Can I connect more than one AI app? Yes. Each one appears separately under Connected apps and can be disconnected on its own.
Can I stop AI apps from connecting at all? Yes. Set “Allow AI apps to connect” to No and disconnect any apps already listed.
This is just the beginning
